The wash and go can be a difficult look to master, but with a little practice can be just as easy as it sounds. Once you find the right product and perfect your technique, you can achieve a superb wash and go effortlessly. I've created a 6 step process to curly success...
I love a fresh wash and go that exhibits super defined curls! I recently started using the DevaCurl line and have had great results with frizz free curls. I’ve received many complements and questions on how I style my hair, so I’ve decided to share my routine with you.
If you haven’t heard of the DevaCurl line, they have a ton of cool hair products - specifically for curly girls. From repairing damaged hair to styling unruly hair, you're bound to find one that will work for you and your hair type. Additionally, their products are sulfate-free, silicone-free, paraben-free, and cruelty-free! YAH!
I like to use these products as a leave in after washing my hair because I've found they maximize moisture. The combo of using the conditioner followed by the gel gives me bouncy curls all day. Here's my normal wash and go style routine:
Start with freshly damp co-washed hair. De-tangle hair in the shower with a Denman brush, which works great for curly hair.
Once hair is de-tangled, part it into 4 equal sections. This makes hair easier to work with, application of product simple, and keeps hair and curls from tangling up.
Next, unclip one of the parted sections and apply both DevaCurl One Condition and DevaCurl Ultra Defining Gel. Apply as needed to meet the needs of your curls. Repeat this on the other 3 sections until hair has both the conditioner and gel evenly distributed.
Scrunch curls with a microfiber towel. Hair will naturally mesh together and become well defined. This also helps to eliminate any excess product.
Air dry hair (or optional - blow dry with a diffuser) until hair totally dry.
Fluff the roots (I use my fingertips) and Go!
